Bird Photography from Taiwan

Here are some really nice shots of birds taken in Taiwan. Personally, we think these have an oriental touch to the style, though maybe we should simply get out into nature more. Taiwan’s nature parks for a start…

Origins of Bubble Tea

For fans of the popular East Asian beverage, bubble tea, check out CNNGo‘s recent article on the possible origins of the tapioca-balled-beverage.

Bubble-Milk-Tea

Apparently, in the eighties, a product development manager of Taiwan‘s Chun Shui Tang tea house, poured some tapioca balls in her Assam iced tea for fun – and then drank it. The drink ended up on sale and still makes up 80-90% of sales..

A Taipei Mass Transit Car Journey – Front Row Seats!

Some of Taipei‘s MTR lines (from what we can remember) are driverless and so a lucky few can sit (or stand) at the front and watch the journey from an otherwise driver’s point of view. We shot a short, shaky video when we visited Taipei, but YouTube user ISO8 has a smoother and much longer clip giving you a more compelling front row seat for rail buffs! Watch below for more..

Taiwan Workers by Photographer Garret Clarke

American-born photographer Garret Clarke has a striking series of work depicting manual labourers in Southern Taiwan. They may look a little posed, but I envy the ability of portrait photographers who can instil some degree of confidence in their subjects.
