Tornado Potato : A New, Interesting Korean Snack
Check out this new snack found on the streets of Seoul, South Korea! It’s a Tornado Potato which is basically a potato that’s been sliced into a long spiral and deep fried.
What I like about East-Asian countries are that there always seems to be more interesting things to buy and eat as you walk around, and these things are no exception. Guaranteed to turn heads (well, foreign heads anyway).

How to Make a Custard Green Tea Snowskin Mooncake
Swee posts a good looking alternative to the traditional-style moon cakes on her blog Foodaholic, which certainly look tastier than the previously post Nokia Moon Cakes!
She makes these with a combination of custard and green tea lotus paste. Check out her blog to find out how to make these.

Mobile Phone Moon Cakes
Here are some moon cakes shaped as Nokia mobile handsets for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Chinese Festival. After growing up with the same design of traditional moon cakes, I never would have thought that this would happen! Progress is good, but I’m not too sure in this case. Nothing is sacred!

Breast Enlargement Cookie
Groan - only in Japan would you find cookies that imply your breasts will grow if you eat them. Well, that makes sense - if you get fat all over, your breasts will probably increase too.

“Retro” White Rabbit Sweets
If you’re East-Asian, you might remember growing up with these White Rabbit sweets. Or in fact, you might still be eating these sweets.

Well, now it seems that these milky sweets have come under scrutiny and are currently being tested by the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) for a chemical it should not contain - Formaldehyde.
This preservative is commonly used for embalming and well, probably is better known as one of Damien Hirst’s tools of his trade.
Hopefully, all’s well that ends well and that they don’t contain the stuff. I wouldn’t like to think that I might have “preserved” anything in my stomach all these years.

Summer Japanese Sweets to Cool You Down
PingMag has a nice article on refreshingly cool wagashi (Japanese sweets).
“Seasonal Japanese sweets” are creative wagashi which express the colors and scents of each individual season. The coming of each new season is celebrated in Japan with special foods, drinks, festivals, and especially sweets.
