Strawberries That Taste Like Chocolate
Here’s an interesting food technology with potential for creating food with supplements to get your RDA’s. I also see potential for some concealed hi-tech food pranks! Read on..

These strawberries are actually composites of chocolate and berries created by an infusion technology, adapted for produce by a company called FCOM (Fresh Functional Food Composite).
They create them first by freeze-drying the fruit, removing water components, and then sinking chocolate in between its fibers. In the cross section above, the inner part of the strawberry is actually laced with white chocolate.
It’s a technique commonly used in industrial manufacturing for fusing metals. The strawberries are just for fun, but the company’s hoping to apply the same strategies to create vitamin-infused fruits and mineral-infused rice for youngsters and elderlies reluctant to get their nutrition otherwise.

Korean Snacks : Silkworm Pupae
“Literally meaning pupa or chrysalis, beondegi are popular Korean street snacks, often dished out by the cupful to eager passers-by.
“The stewed and seasoned silkworm treats come highly recommended as bar bites. Next time you crave a quick mouthful on the go, grab a can of these crunchy chrysalises.”
Someone tell me these aren’t real!!

Pessimistic Fortune Cookies
Think twice before you assume that the fortune you’re about to find in your cookie is a vague, sugar-coated cliché.
Wonton Food, who produce about 4.5 million cookies a day have “enriched” their catalog of fortunes with some slightly more downbeat advice.

“Today is a disastrous day. If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” reads one fortune whilst another advises “It’s over your head now. Time to get some professional help”.
One blogger, who got the “professional help” fortune, wrote: “I shot the audacious baked item a dirty look and proceeded to eat it. And I hope it hurt.”
Bernard Chow, marketing coordinator at Wonton Food, says he had not set out to insult anybody when he asked his team of freelance writers to come up with some new messages.
“We wanted our fortune cookies to be a little bit more value-added,” Mr. Chow said. “We wanted to get some different perspective, to write something that is more contemporary.”
WOW - where can I get some!?

Tornado Potato : A New, Interesting Korean Snack
Check out this new snack found on the streets of Seoul, South Korea! It’s a Tornado Potato which is basically a potato that’s been sliced into a long spiral and deep fried.
What I like about East-Asian countries are that there always seems to be more interesting things to buy and eat as you walk around, and these things are no exception. Guaranteed to turn heads (well, foreign heads anyway).
