Korean Film Festival at The Barbican Centre, London
If you’re in London in the next few days, you might want to check out a Korean film or two during the Korean Film Festival at The Barbican Centre.

Korean cinema has blossomed in the last few years and now produces some of the best animation, fantasy and deadly revenge thrillers in the world.
Highlights will surely be the new outings by Kim Ki-duk and Park Chan-wook (Old Boy). There’s also a chance to glimpse some lost classics from the golden age of Korean cinema.

The UK Pearl Awards : Complimentary Tickets
This year’s Pearl Awards will be held on Thursday 1st November at the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank Centre, London in the presence of HRH Prince of Wales and very special guests from the entertainment world.
Dedicated to “Unsung Heroes“, the awards will feature performances by Niu Niu & Xue Fei Yang, supported by the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by world-renowned Leslie Howard.

A limited number of complimentary tickets, normally costing up to £60, are available on a first come, first served basis, by contacting Amber on this email. You can apply for a pair of tickets for yourself and a guest/partner by writing with your full names and addresses, and as the Prince of Wales is the VIP guest, you’ll need to bring along 2 forms of identification, for security reasons.

Typhoon Live / Yellow Earth Theatre 2-For-1 Offer
The previously posted Typhoon Live production has a 2-for-1 offer on the London run of its tour next week, from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th October, at The Oval Theatre.
Typhoon Live is a new double bill production from the UK-based East Asian and award-winning company Yellow Earth Theatre. The two plays are Getting Married by Yi Kang-baek and Dogs by Elangovan.

Free Japanese Taiko Drum Workshop in London
Nobuko from the Asian Music Centre sent me this note about a free Taiko Drum Workshop they are holding on Friday 28th September. I’ve seen a performance by the Joji Hirota Japanese Taiko Drummers and it looks and sounds excellent, especially if you like your beats. The performers really looked like they were having fun too.
