Lucky Cat Series 6 – If Wong Kar Wai had a radio show this is what it would sound like

Zoë Baxter returns to Resonance 104.4 FM for the 6th series of Lucky Cat. A weekly magazine style programme which focuses on Chinese and East Asian culture with a varied mixture of music (Reggae, Asia Beat, Folk).

For series 6 Zoë has recorded an exclusive interview with China’s premier Reggae and Soul singer Cha Cha. Zoë will also be playing the audio she recorded on her trip to China earlier this year: Beijing & Shanghai soundscapes and an interview with vinyl hero Paul Au of Paul’s Records Hong Kong.

The Dim Sum Lunchbox returns with a new recipe each week from East Asian cuisine.

Japanese Gadget lets you play music by touching your friends

Social and collaborative media comes back to the real world with this new instrumental toy from Takara Tomy. The video below does all the explanation you’ll need, but essentially, it looks like the gadget plays different sounds by people touching both the gadget and each other to create a circuit. Looks fun!

Lucky Cat Radio Programme Series 5 on Air

Previously posted Zoë Baxter returns to Resonance 104.4 FM for the 5th series of Lucky Cat! This weekly, one hour, magazine style radio programme focuses on Chinese and East Asian culture with a varied mixture of music (Reggae, Asia Beat, Folk).

Previous shows have included a feature on the Chinese contribution to Reggae, live sessions from Beijing rappers, a Korean punk band and British East Asian musicians, interviews with cultural arts organisers and a two-part special on the Seven Singing Stars of Shanghai (1930′s Chinese chanteuses).

Every week a new recipe is tried and tasted in regular feature The Dim Sum Lunchbox.

Episode 1 airs 3.30pm Saturday 15th January , the series will run for 11 weeks.

Liz Liew and Andy Leung Commissioned for New Music 20×12 – London Olympics

We’re happy to announce that OneInchPunch friends Liz Liew and Andy Leung have been commissioned by Chinatown Arts Space as part of the Cultural Olympiad for the London 2012 Olympics.

Andy Leung and Liz Liew will compose and perform XXXY, a musical tug-of-war reflecting contrasting themes of multicultural London: male vs female, traditional vs experimental, young vs young-at-heart, British culture vs world culture, lo-fi vs hi-fi: XX vs XY.

Japanese Musical Group Slow Steps in Synch Through Fast Paced Tokyo
