Beautiful Leather by Malaysia Based Fashion Design Collective, ThirtyFour

ThirtyFour is a Malaysia-based design collective that was founded with the firm belief in vision, innovation and function. Comprising of a core design group – the ThirtyFour aesthetic aims to challenge design status quos and deliver quality pieces that are original and pioneering.

Thirtyfour-Wristbands

ThirtyFour uses brass, copper and silver for its hardware (buckles, rivets and studs) and mainly calfskin leather for its other products. Lambskin is used for softer items like clutches and wallets. Linda and Shuenn Kee generally avoid the more exotic materials like lizard and snake skin (for example, python), chinchillas and foxes but they do offer some sea snake skin items.

Sustainable Towers in Malaysia – Awesome Architecture

A stunning new residential development is planned for the Putrajaya waterfront just 30km south of Kuala Lumpur. The design is refreshing and original with unique, marine-inspired structures – which also draw from traditional Islamic designs - arranged in a permeable, radiating block of bioclimatic architecture.

Malaysiaonionthingies

The winner of a recent contest, the design for comes from Studio Nicoletti Associati and Malaysian architects Hijjas Kasturi Associates, who provided the masterplan of Putrajaya.

The goal of the designers was to provide a model for sustainable residential design that was inspired by the city’s unique landscape which includes an expansive artificial lake. The biggest inspiration came from the sea and the entire development resembles a fleet of ships.

The buildings will source from alternative energy and are expected to produce 50% less CO2 emissions than similar residential projects.

Malaysia’s ‘King Tooth’ Pulls Train with his Teeth Sets New World Record

A Malaysian nicknamed “King Tooth” pulled a seven-coach train using a steel rope clenched in his mouth today, a feat that organisers said was a new world record for the heaviest weight pulled with teeth.

Grunting and gasping, Rathakrishnan Velu’s neck muscles strained and his face contorted as he hauled the 297.1 tonne train over 2.8 metres (9 feet, 2.2 inches) along tracks.

I don’t know what toothpaste he uses but I am sure a lot companies will be looking to endorse their products from Rathakrishnan,” said Maximus Ongkili, a Cabinet minister, who witnessed the effort at a railway station in Kuala Lumpur.

The most impressive Mario 3D cake, ever?

Forgive me for posting like a Mario cake fetishist but this cake does take the biscuit.. Chinese-Malaysian Su-Yin from The Journal of a Girl who Loves To Cook has crafted a phenomenal Mario cake!

The inspiration came when a friend spotted the Super Mario wedding cake and said “Su Yin could do better than that!”. So … she did.

Check out more images below and marvel at Su-Yin’s ability to blend food, art, and geekery into one delicious dessert.
