Star Wars Samurai

Another Star Wars cross-over (I don’t think we’ll ever tire of them), this time by USA-based artist Clinton Felker who has depicted Star Wars characters as samurai.

By the way, sorry for the lack of updates in recent months everyone. Previously, we’d been pretty consistent posting almost everyday since launching in 2007, but (positive!) life events eventually took their toll on our time. We promise to do better!

Monkey King Vodka Bottle Design

We missed the boat on this limited edition Absolut vodka bottle design, but it doesn’t stop us appreciating the art, designed for the Chinese market by Gao Yu. It features the legend of Sun Wukong / the Monkey King.

Movie Posters by Claudia Varosio

Claudia Varosio has a clean, unfussy illustration style in a few of her interpretations of film posters. We like her mood-matching “In The Mood for Love” poster, but our favourite has to be the “Seven Samurai” poster. Both are on sale for $19.

Fantastic Vintage Japanese Postcards

A few fantastic vintage Japanese postcards from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Apparently, more postcards can be seen in the museum’s online collection, but right now, it seems to be offline.

Amazing Ball Point Pen Illustrations by Shohei

Japanese artist Shohei creates amazingly detailed illustration work out of ball point pen. It’s not the first time an artist has achieved recognition through this humble instrument, but Shohei also depicts an interesting and quirky world of ping pong playing geisha’s, fighting school boys, elements of steam punk and other subcultures.
