Chopstick variations seem to be a regular feature on OneInchPunch and why not, when there are some bizarre ways to look at this seemingly simple utensil. Here, designer Aïssa Logerot takes a pair of disposable chopsticks and plugs them into a purpose-design soup spoon. What do you think of these?

One-trick pony? I can see these easily falling apart, let alone becoming impractical once the impatient diner breaks the sticks apart.

CHOP STICK is a wardrobe by swiss Andreas Saxer, inspired by traditional Japanese wood joinery methods and chop sticks. Four wooden sticks are loosely connected with an aluminum profile. The loose system becomes very stable by the weight of the clothes.

We love this for many reasons, one being how elegant it is to look at and use. Another is because we now have something to use with this supersize Chinese New Year hot pot in Chengdu.

Chinese ingenuity shows its head again in 20 year old Chinese farmer Wu Zhongyuan, who has built a home-made helicopter using wood and a motorcycle engine..

Wu built himself the contraption using what he remembers of middle school physics lessons and “relevant knowledge [found while] surfing the Internet via my mobile phone.”

His single-seater conveyance has blades made from the wood of an Elm tree, a frame reinforced with steel pipes and uses an engine from a motorcycle — all for around $1,600. Wu claims the ‘copter can get him as high as 2,600 feet, though it seems he’s grounded for the time being as the Chinese government has forbid him to fly because of safety reasons.

Someone in China (not Japan?) customised this Gundam robot with jewels and it looks good, if a little feminine (nothing wrong with that!). I suspect the decoration came from all the phone decals that are common in Hong Kong and Japan, and probably China too.
