Chicken Congee with Goji Berries

I only think of congee when I’m ill. I guess its the oriental equivalent of chicken soup.

Adding goji berries makes it look much more appealing and healthier too than looking like a slop of porridge that it is!

The blog Appetite for China shows you how its done, together with sautéed chicken.

Make your own combined Ramen Noodle Sushi

I’ve never heard of combining both noodles and sushi, but I’ve just come across this recipe to do it, via The Official Ramen Homepage.

Having now heard of it, why didn’t anyone do this before?!

Ramen-Noodle-Sushi

From Wral.com:

You can make your ramen noodle meal much more adventurous with a few vegetables, shrimp and nori seaweed sheets.

This Ramen Noodle Sushi, served with wasabi dipping sauce, is both fun to make and eat.

Chinese Tea Menu as Fortune Telling Sticks

The blog Camemberu posted about tea served at Shang Palace, which use the temple fortune telling sticks as a tea menu format.

Nice idea if you can leave it to fate to tell you which tea to have. One of the most expensive sells at $35 a pot!

Spoonful of Fried Rice Cell Phone Strap

This cell phone strap must surely join the list of useless stuff? I guess you’d have to be a devotee of fried rice, who also savours it fed by the spoonful to get this.

Not good when you’re hungry. This will just make you more aware of your hunger and you still can’t eat it.

Splash Shaped Dipping Bowls

Ooh, I like these interesting looking bowls! They’re Splash Dipping Bowls by Akimasa Yamada.

A splash was the design inspiration for this dipping bowl set, which is ideal for serving sauces, with a rest for chopsticks. They’re made of porcelain and come in a set of three, as you can see.

Manga Chat Plates by Ikuko Nakazawa

These Chat Plates by Ikuko Nakazawa were designed to resemble conversation bubbles from manga, or Japanese comics.

Chat-Plates

The set of three plates features one large plate and two smaller plates and is perfect for serving small meals and snacks. A obvious conversation piece (!) they might also remind diners to make meals more of a social event - important for family ties.

The plates are made of porcelain, are dishwasher and microwave safe and sell for $45 from MoMA.
