Make Your Own Stainless Steel Folding Origami Lamp

This Origami Lamp is perhaps a nice, crafty sort of project if you need a lamp and love origami.

Folding-Origami-Lamp

All you need is a pre-scored 0.8mm sheet of stainless steel (ok - you might need a decent hand tool to pre-score the sheet) and some sort of lamp fixture. Then it is just a matter of bending the segments into an origami design that suits your tastes.

Instant Origami

Instant Origami is the contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese paper folding technique - focusing on speed and imagination rather than on the technically brilliant execution.

The goal, to create a representation of an object by folding a single piece of paper without the use of glue, remains unchanged.

I didn’t think too much when I saw this site, assuming it was just another video tutorial of origami-how-tos. But it made me smile and then I thought it was quite clever. Your imagination might need to work a bit harder for ‘the frog’ however!

Origami WALL-E and Iron Man

Joining the Lord of the Rings origami franchise is now a slightly crinkly looking WALL-E and Iron Man.

These are created by the hands of one Brian Chan, who created these out of one piece of paper (each).

Origami-Wall E

If you ask me, I think origami works a little better for slightly organic subjects, rather than the supposedly smooth and metallic surfaces of WALL-E and Iron Man. Well, maybe these are meant to be post-battle.

Make Your Own Origami Paper Lamp

With heavyweight paper, tape, and fire retardant spray, children of all ages can make a nifty origami paper lantern.

Origami-Lampshade

The trick is in how you fold the paper, and accuracy is crucial. Be sure to find the right size paper—Yasutomo recommends 14″x22″.

The result is a cool-looking lamp that could make a nice homemade gift, too. Or if all else fails, Ikea probably sell something similar…

Studio Ghibli’s Howls Moving Castle Paper Craft Model

Here’s an amazingly crafted paper model of Howl’s Moving Castle, from the anime movie of the same name, by Japanese director and artist Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli.

Its complex so would take a few days to say the least, to complete. If you’d like to make your own moving castle, follow the links for downloadable pdf files.

Origami Blog Site

Origamiblog.com is a website dedicated to the joy of origami - concepts, products and inspiration.

I recognise some immediate posts as links that have featured on OneInchPunch before, but nevertheless, there are some good things in there too. I like the non-paper items like the chair or the fabric items
