Tape with Easy-to-find End

This ingenious design would be a god send in many a household without a (tape) dispenser. Designed by Deockeun An, Jaehyung Kim and Cheolwoong Seo, the tape allows the end to be stuck with a convenient gap underneath for easier use later on.

Stainless Steel and Sterling Silver Kimono

Since we expect kimono garments to be soft and made of fabric, it’s rare to see one made of metal and still retain a look that reflects the traditional qualities. Miya Ando‘s awesome piece has been made by hand-soldered over 4000 sterling silver rings and stainless steel plates to make a ‘Furisode‘ (long sleeve) kimono.

Japanese Sandals with Animal Footprints

These Japanese sandals (ge-ta) are designed with animal foot print shapes underneath allowing prints to be left that are sure to baffle some people. Great for kids at the beach! They come in five foot print types: cat, gecko and monkey are shown below and there are also owl and zaurus types.

Sydney based graphic designer Bianca Chang creates extraordinary paper illustrations by hand plotting multiple sheets of recycled paper (each with a slight variation) to form a piece with depth.

Illuminated Transparent Sea Creatures

Japanese fisherman and artist, Iori Tomita, uses marine life he receives from fellow fishermen to create what he calls New World Transparent Specimens. They’re sea creatures that have been transformed using preservation techniques and dyes to turn them into see-through shadows of their former selves with their structures highlighted with colour.
