Japanese Gravure Idol Award
The nice thing about Japanese culture seems to be that women who take their clothes off seem to be more respected that in the west, giving them an “idol” status.
Online entertainment site ZAKZAK has created the Japanese Gravure Idol Award, a prize that gives the nation’s hard-working bikini models the recognition they so richly deserve.

The judges take into consideration the likes of photo album sales and media exposure, along with an ample number of other assets.
And, after some no doubt lengthy deliberations, the judges finally presented the first ever title to 24-year-old Yuko Ogura.

Money Origami in Bank Advert
Here are some ads for Maone bank by advertising agency DCS (out of Porto Alegre, Brazil) and art director Gregory Kickow.
Nice use of texture for these origami pieces.

Japanese Picture Moment : Colourful Old Man
A colourful old man takes time out. I love the way his white beard just disappears into his scarf.

Make your own combined Ramen Noodle Sushi
I’ve never heard of combining both noodles and sushi, but I’ve just come across this recipe to do it, via The Official Ramen Homepage.
Having now heard of it, why didn’t anyone do this before?!

From Wral.com:
You can make your ramen noodle meal much more adventurous with a few vegetables, shrimp and nori seaweed sheets.
This Ramen Noodle Sushi, served with wasabi dipping sauce, is both fun to make and eat.

Subtle Hello Kitty Clothes by Silly Thing
Show your love for Hello Kitty in a subtler way with this gentle application of the feline on this jacket.
SiLLY THING were commissioned to do a special collection for the upcoming Hello Kitty Black Wonder exhibition in Hong Kong.
Unlike Hello Kitty’s personality as a cute kitten, SiLLY THING offers their own perspective on things as they appropriate the theme onto the Kitty Button Up shirt and Kitty Tailored jacket.

Disturbing Japanese dolls
All manner of dolls (and outfits to dress them in) seem to be popular in Japan, but these ones seem a little freaky. They seem to be a more humanised version of the robot design in the film iRobot (Will Smith).

Even worse is the ability to swap some “parts” to show a slightly different mood…
