10 Kick Ass Facts About Bruce Lee
Neatorama have a nice little post about Bruce Lee with 10 facts we might not have known about him.

Here’s the first one:
Bruce Lee’s Family Gave Him a Girl’s Name: “Little Phoenix”
Bruce’s family never called him “Bruce.” They preferred to call him by his nickname “Sai Fon” or “Little Phoenix.” It was a girl’s name, deliberately chosen by his parents because they believed that evil spirits did not like boys in the family (their firstborn was a son who died in infancy). So, by giving Bruce a girl’s name, they believed they could fool the demons into sparing his life!
Actually, “Bruce” was a name given by a nurse at the Jackson Street Hospital, San Francisco, where he was born (Bruce’s father was traveling with an acting troupe at the time). The nurse thought that giving the baby an English name would help avoid any confusion with his American birth certificate (yes, Bruce was an American by birth - he never had any other citizenship).

There’s quite a storm brewing up through the comments as well. I did think (comment 34) “all your bruce are belong to us” was funny in the context of all the other (serious?) comments. But I guess you had to be there..

“The Legend of Bruce Lee” : 40-part series begins filming in China
China’s CCTV network has started producing a 40-part series on the life of Bruce Lee, to be shot in locales like Hong Kong and Lee’s ancestral South China province, Guangdong.
“The Legend of Bruce Lee” will star Hong Kong actor Chen Guokun (pictured below, aka Chan Kwok-kwan / Danny Chan), who played a very Bruce Lee-esque goalkeeper in Stephen Chow’s “Shaolin Soccer.” The budget for the series is just $6.4 million.

Bruce Lee and One Inch Punch Documentary
Over 230 posts later and here at last, is a post about the One Inch Punch..
This is a short and sweet 7 minute documentary on the One Inch Punch, its creation, its development, its applications and a couple of films it has been seen in. There are various clips including the notorious Long Beach International Karate competition footage where Bruce Lee performs the One Inch Punch, and a couple of clips from Kill Bill volume 2, where Uma Thurman’s character is attempting to learn it.

Brilliant (retro) Bruce Lee 3D animation clip
I first saw this clip a few years after it was made and just loved the little package for what it was. It was completed in 1997, which is even more amazing if you check out the movements they’ve recreated of Bruce Lee’s techniques.
Complete realism, lip synching and facial gymnastics are not the best but I find even the slightly mechanical face effects add to the quirkiness of the piece. The Enter The Dragon soundtrack together with voice clips from the previously posted Pierre Berton Show Bruce Lee interview create a short but entertaining snippet of Bruce Lee..

Bruce Lee lives on… apparently
Lisa Katayama says - Bruce Lee lives on! As much as Bruce fans would like, its still only in terms of making more movies about him and his life however. Filmmaker Justin Lin has a new film called Finishing the Game which takes a humorous look at the period after Bruce’s untimely death with the search for a replacement star that could fill the void.
There are a few video clips to watch, of the man himself and his inferior imitators. Lisa also mentions a project by director Rob Cohen (Dragon : The Bruce Lee story) which plans to bring back the master with computer graphics. More disappointment? No… this time, we have CGI to wow us… apparently.
