Starbucks Moon Cakes

As the Mid-Autumn Festival comes around once again this year, there will be plenty of gorgeous packaging wrapping sets of moon cakes – more so in Chinese countries. Starbucks recently released their 2010 moon cake sets which come in a set of two and a premium set of four.

Chinese New Year Photos and Protecting Wild Tigers

The Big Picture posts a series of photos depicting Chinese New Year celebrations around the world. Since its the Year of the Tiger, conservationists are hoping to call attention to the plight of the endangered big cats, whose population has dropped from 100,000 at the beginning of the 20th century, to less than 3,000 today.

Chinese New Year Mashup of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face

If we’re honest, we don’t understand all the fuss made about Lady Gaga, but this guy seems to. He’s gone so far as to apparently mash up one of her tunes to Chinese New Year lyics according virtual China site 88 Bar. Net meme in the making?

Picture Moment : Chinese Woman with Baby and Oversized Backpack

Whilst we’re no stranger to the migration rush that Chinese New Year brings to Chinese communities around the world, this photo caught our eyes with its depiction of a woman running to catch her train.

Chinese-Woman-Backpack-Baby

A passenger with her hands full hurries to catch her train at the railway station in Nanchang, east China, at the weekend. She was one of millions travelling home to celebrate the start of the year of the tiger on February 14th.

Let’s hope Chinese travelers all over the world make it to their families safely this year.

Chinese New Year Candy Box from G.O.D.

Chinese New Year is fast approaching and here in Hong Kong, its no more obvious than in the enterprising (and sometimes gaudy) displays of the city’s decorative retailers. Previously posted Hong Kong retailer G.O.D. ups the game in terms of design, and although we’re fans, we’re beginning to tire of their inflated prices. However, with their new Year of the Tiger Candy Box, they update another Chinese tradition for the table.
