Hello Kitty Eggs
Here are some slightly unnecessary eggs shaped into Hello Kitty faces. Unnecessary unless you’re a fanatical Hello Kitty fan of course.

If these looked really cute like Hello Kitty bento, I can understand, but these?

Puma Japanese Bento Box and Lunch Bag from the New Urban Mobility Collection
Puma’s new Urban Mobility Collection contains a nice range of bags and accessories for different occasions, such as “Out of Town” and “Out and About“.
In the “Out of Office” range, they have this rather tasty Japanese Lunch Bag and a separate Bento Box (which fits into the bag). Also available in other colours.
The (Flash) website is also pretty good too.

Character Bento Contest Winner
The Character Bento (Lunchbox) Contest was held in Tokyo recently and the following entry, titled “Even Rainy Days Are Fun!“, won!

The lunch features sausages cut like flowers and a red pepper designed to look like an umbrella. The lunch was judged not only on aesthetics but on nutritional value, so clearly needs double skills to win.
I haven’t seen the other entries but I guess the nutritional bit does mean packing in a few ingredients that you’d need to try harder to make look good. I could be wrong, but there’s possibly room for improvement? Check out an earlier post to find out what else you can do with the sausages: Ingenious Frankfurter Animals.

Nice-looking Japanese Cucumber on Pressed Rice
Take a look at this tasty looking cucumber on pressed rice sandwich which came as part of a bento box lunch from the tea shop in the Japanese owned luxurious boutique store Takashimaya in New York.
Hm – I can either try making one myself, look for one in the UK, or fly to New York…

Chocolate Sushi
Check out this strange combination of Sushi styling but chocolate (and other sweet) tastes. These sushi items are meticulously handmade and use the finest chocolate, delectable flavourings and crisp rice cookies instead of raw fish, vinegar and rice.

For instance, the Apricot Row has a crisp rice cookie under rows of apricot flavoured “gummi-eggs”, wrapped in dark chocolate, and the Berry Maguro has a strawberry flavoured chocolate tuna fillet with a milk chocolate hazelnut centre.
Combinations of sushi can be bought, presented in an array of beautiful, imported Japanese obento boxes, washi paper boxes and trays.
