Designer Wood Toy by David Choe

VinylPulse reports on previously posted artist, David Choe, who is releasing a new designer art toy – the all wood Choegal.

Blogchoegal

It’s apparently coming before the end of the year from Upper Playground and  Ningyoushi with a run of 1000. They will be all meticulously hand painted overseas.

David comments on his blog about the stunning quality of a test sample he received:

“I gave detailed instructions to the factory on how to replicate my multi layered style, and looking at this toy, I can’t even tell the difference from the original, I should just get these fuckers to do all my paintings for me too!”

Choegal is heavily articulated and the head rotates to reveal 3 different faces/emotions.

David Choe on Lost At E Minor

LA-based renaissance man David Choe draws from toy culture and comics as much as he does from Japanese painting and conceptual high art to produce his massive body of work, which includes sculptures, installations, murals, paintings, photographs, and graphic novels.

David-Choe

Legend has it that his first exhibition at an ice cream shop stayed up two years longer than originally planned because his pieces sold faster than the ice cream itself.

David Choe : Mixed media, sculpture and painting

The latest issue of Arts and Culture magazine, Juxtapoz, has a feature on talented multi-medium artist David Choe who is from Los Angeles. He has just had a short solo exhibition called Gardeners of Eden in New York, but he does sell a range of his work on his website.

David Choe Pink Socks

David Choe has an inspirational versatile talent, experimenting with mixed media, sculpture and painting. His work portrays his adventures and experiences, inspired by being alive and loving life. When an artist demonstrates this kind of fluency through different media, you can appreciate that a personal style has developed, whether its through scratchy pen and ink drawings, smoothly rendered paintings, child-like outlined characters, or visceral compositions from his imagination.
