Tokyo Tops the list of Worlds Most Expensive City



Mercer’s 2009 Worldwide Cost of Living survey lists Tokyo as the world’s most expensive city. Tokyo is also followed by Osaka with the next East Asian city to be Hong Kong at number five.

Tokyo I can understand, but Hong Kong? They obviously don’t know where to shop!

    Well, if your housing is paid for then Hong Kong is not expensive to live in – otherwise do tell what went wrong and where one should go to do all the shopping!

    Hi See-ming,

    No – even considering rent, it would be cheap. New Territories rents seem considerably lower than the island. Other options would be to stick with local brands for clothes and cha chan tengs for eating out.
