Photographer Bruce Osborn’s Oyako
Tokyo-based photographer Bruce Osborn has a photo series called Oyako. The series looks at the relationships between Japanese parents and their children.

Says Osborn:
‘Oyako means parents and children in Japanese and it is the title of a series I’ve been photographing since 1982. Over the years, I have taken of hundreds of parents and children running the gamete of Japanese society, including Kabuki actors, punk musicians, policemen, Buddhist monks, and porno actresses. The one thing that all of them have in common is that they are real life parents and children’.
Osborn lives in both Los Angeles and Tokyo, where he works as a commercial photographer and directs TV commercials and music videos.
