Philippines Picture Moment : The Black Nazarene
A statue of the Black Nazarene makes its way through Manila, Philippines as thousands of devotees join a procession on January 9, 2008.
Tens of thousands of devotees, many of them barefoot, thronged in Manila on Wednesday to snatch a glimpse of the centuries-old black statue of Jesus Christ during the annual parade.

The statue, carved in Mexico and brought to the Philippine capital in the early 17th century, is cherished by Catholics, who believe it performs miracles.

Monkey King by CHi2 : A Modern Beijing Opera
Friends of mine - British Chinese “double violin assault specialists” CHi2 recently premiered their new show MONKEY KING - A Modern Beijing Opera, in North London, UK.
Celebrating the richness and colour of Beijing Opera and re-interpreted for the modern day, CHi2 created a visually and musically exciting show, blending digital media and music.

I photo-documented the event which I have to say, was very good! I’m not a regular live music go-er, but they combined lots of visuals and lighting effects with a variety of musical textures, that told the story of Monkey - who in this case, was depicted by actor Tom Wu.
Stunning if you can catch it! This show was a one-off, but CHi2 are now planning a tour - watch this space!

Japanese Human Art Sketch
More Japanese game show humour, in the shape of a couple food fighting over dinner - with the help of “invisible” black-clad people.
As usual with these hilarious sketches, the ingenuity of their movements give dynamic live action to the comically-bent bodies of the man and woman, and kinetic energy to the food!

Oriental-Style Digital Room Divider
Those room dividers or screens found both in modern and traditional, vintage styles have now received a technological upgrade!
This Hyundai invention boasts a set of four interlinked LCD displays that play images like a screensaver - a definite upgrade from the smaller digital photo frames.

The images Hyundai have showcased so far resemble ink-drawings with animated lily pads and rose petals.
The best part of the animation, though, has to be the cranes that fly from one panel to the other in a long loop.
If and when launched in the States, the screen is estimated to retail for around $70,000. Better stick to the “ordinary” type.
