Philippines Picture Moment : The Black Nazarene

A statue of the Black Nazarene makes its way through Manila, Philippines as thousands of devotees join a procession on January 9, 2008.

Tens of thousands of devotees, many of them barefoot, thronged in Manila on Wednesday to snatch a glimpse of the centuries-old black statue of Jesus Christ during the annual parade.

The statue, carved in Mexico and brought to the Philippine capital in the early 17th century, is cherished by Catholics, who believe it performs miracles.

I was there for the first time yesterday, (Friday, January 10) and it was amazing. As a Catholic, I get to renew my faith again…the black Nazarene really touched my heart.
