Chu Enoki’s Futuristic City Made From Old Drill Bits and Machine Parts
Japanese artist Chu Enoki created this piece called RPM-1200, a diorama built from junk metal, old drill bits and spare machine parts polished into gleaming, shiny spires of a futuristic city.

The sculpture is actually pretty big, measuring 3.4m by 4.6m in diameter. The details are absolutely fantastic! and look more engulfing the closer you are!

Check out more on Chu Enoki’s website

Amazing Japanese Tree Houses
This amazing treehouse was designed by Takashi Kobayashi, one of Japan’s leading tree house creators.

It was created after an advertising agency in Tokyo, commissioned him to design a treehouse for a Nescafé commercial now running on Japanese television.
Mr. Kobayashi built an oval bird’s nest of a house, 12 feet high and 9 feet in diameter, reached by a circular staircase, and the final price for this tree house was about $38,000.
The house is located on a field owned by the town of Kamishihoro, where it remains an enticing, if off-limits, gift from Nestlé, the makers of Nescafé, to the people of Hokkaido.
Here’s another tree house designed by a masters student in Toronto, which poses as a Japanese lantern on stilts.

Loch Ness Monster in Japan
Here is a seriously cool promotional tool for an upcoming movie, The Waterhouse Legend of the Deep, which is about the Loch Ness Monster.
I’ve no idea what the connection with Japan is though.

However, check out this video clip, which shows that the combined effect of light projections on perfectly timed water jets, creates the illusion of a cool looking illuminated monster rising out of Tokyo Bay, dripping with water!

The World’s Unique Festivals
Syamsulariff has just blogged an interesting post on the world’s most unique holiday festivals.
The variety and strangeness of some of these festivals, some resulting in century old traditions, will make for interesting reading! There’s a cross section of countries from around the world, but here are a couple of the East-Asian ones…
Inazawa, Japan: Hadaka Matsuri, The Naked Festival
Hidden somewhere in the midst of all these men in loincloths is one fully naked man. Touching him is believed to bring good luck and happiness.

Lopburi province, Thailand: The Monkey Buffet
Every year, all of the province’s approximately 600 monkeys are invited to eat fruits and vegetables during an annual feast held in honor of Rama, a hero of the Ramayana, who, it is said, rewarded his friend and ally, Hanuman the Monkey King, with the fiefdom of what is now Lopburi.
Organisers of the annual monkey buffet use more than 3,000 kg of fruits and vegetables for the festival.
