Dragon Tongue Squad, Beijing Hip Hop Crew in London

If you’re in London on the 21st or 22nd February 2008, you can get a taste of Beijing hip hop in the form of mandarin rappers Dragon Tongue Squad.

As part of the Five Circles Arts Festival, organised by Chinatown Arts Space, Dragon Tongue Squad will cross with wicked London sounds from British Chinese scratch-artist DJ Phat and flamenco guitarist Suki Mok, to share a fantastic set showcasing both their own work and the results of their week-long residency jamming in a London studio. blaZian, a mix of young exciting black and East Asian dancers, will kick off the evening with blaZian Invasion!

Designer Origami Chandeliers

Using Japanese Origami, Kyushu-based artist Takayuki Senzaki creates beautiful interiors.

He uses unique patterns and angled lighting to construct chandeliers, tables, and other room ornaments that cast mysterious shadows to create a magical atmosphere. His colourful origami-style chandeliers are part of his unique exhibit entitled Orikami.

Worlds Smallest Teapot Created by Chinese Master Potter

Chinese master potter Wu Ruishen has created a mini teapot weighing just 1.4 grams. The ceramic teapot was revealed on Nov 15 and is claimed to be the smallest teapot in the world.

The 73-year-old Wu is a renowned pottery artist in China, specializes in creating teapots. His artworks can be found in various museums in China.

Preserved Thousand Year Old Duck Egg

More “eek-ing” from me and the Wandering Chopsticks blog as we look at Thousand Year Old Duck Eggs.. I never really took to these, ashamedly, also the translucency gives these eggs a jewel-like quality.

These preserved duck eggs aren’t actually a thousand years old. They’re preserved with a mixture of clay, ash, salt, and lime. Modern methods don’t require them to be coated in mud and buried in jars anymore.

The preservation leaves the albumen translucent and gelatinous and the yolk takes on a creamy, almost cheese-like quality.
