Tokyo Traffic Control Centre
In the Tokyo Traffic Control Centre, Tokyo’s traffic landscape is broadcast on a towering bank of integrated monitors, and is staffed by several officials working 24-hour shifts.

From left to right, the Expressway Display Board, Central Display Board, and Information Display Board paint a picture of the immediate traffic situation by compiling information from cameras, helicopters, police, citizen reports, and over 17,000 vehicle detectors all around the city.

The Central Display Board highlights 1,000 intersections, and has 15,154 traffic signals in the system. When traffic jams are detected or reported, the affected area turns from green to red. It also displays traffic accidents and closed streets.

Information is passed on to Tokyoites live through radio reports and 300 traffic information boards on the roadways. To directly influence traffic, it’s possible to manually adjust the signal intervals for 7,000 of the traffic lights, and communicate directly with traffic officers in the field.

Amazing Fish Dish
This amazing fish dish comes courtesy of my friend Martyn U’ren, whilst on his travels in Vietnam. The presentation is pretty unique with serving the fish upright - I wouldn’t want to touch it for both destroying the beauty of it and collapsing the dish itself!
Update : Martyn has just informed me that this is an elephant ear fish which he ate in the Mekong Delta in South Western Vietnam.

The Most Luxurious Hotel Suite in Asia
The Peninsula Suite in Hong Kong’s Peninsula hotel has been regarded as the most luxurious suite in Asia.
The 26th floor suite offers panoramic views of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong Island. Some of the rooms include, two sitting areas, a conference room, a mini-gym, a private office, a master bathroom with a full view of the harbor, three private wash rooms and a guest washroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a Butler’s pantry.

Interestingly, the CIA and the M15 were consulted on the design since it is a common hotel choice for diplomats and heads of states. To guarantee maximum security the Peninsula Suite has direct access to a helipad and has a special room for security guards down the hall.
Some of the other suite amenities are a 24-hour Butler and a stand-by Rolls-Royce. All of this is available for merely $5,000 per night.

Hihokan Erotic Museum in Japan
There’s a great Flickr set of photos from the Hihokan Erotic Museum in Japan. The museum seems to curate slightly kitschy but weird and surreal subject matter. All the better to gawk at I guess!
Judging from one of the comments, it seems the museum unfortunately closed in March 2007. You better click on over to the Flick set then before they’re removed!
