Japanese Themed, Cute Buttons at Prickie
Prickie sell button badges designed by a number of different designers and illustrators. I came across these ones by “thecuteinstitute” which feature a blood splattered Hello Kitty, geisha character and samurai.
They cost $2.99 each, with a minimum order of 3. To get these particular ones, go to the Prickie site, which uses a Flash interface, and search for the artist “thecuteinstitute”.

Timberland Hong Kong “Year of the Rat” 6in Boot
Still early, but it’s almost that time of the year again, when the goods come out for the impending Chinese New Year. However, these don’t look too bad.
Timberland has created a six inch boot to commemorate next year’s Year of the Rat in the Chinese Zodiac calendar.
The upper is decked out in red with an all-over print of Chinese calligraphy. Additional imagery and designs are seen on the heel with the image of a rat and the relevant character.

Sublime Self Portraits by Korean Artist So Yeun Lee
So Yeun Lee’s portraits are a little eerie-looking but sublime at the same time!
“She was born in South Korea in 1971 but is now living and working in Dusseldorf, Germany. Her paintings are mainly self-portraits. According to So Yeun Lee, she gets to know herself better by creating self-portraits.”

Robot Goat Eats Rubbish
At Tokyo’s Edogawa Kyotei boat race course, gamblers used to throw their losing tickets on the floor.
However, a genius invented this robot goat, which has been programmed to “eat” the tickets you place in its mouth.

Feeding the thing is more satisfying than littering, so it therefore keeps the floors cleaner.
Its a great idea which builds on the image of goats eating anything, and I’d love to think this would work on the streets (of London). Sadly, these things would be more likely to be “adapted” by Banksy wannabees (grafitti-branded) at best, or simply broken or stolen.
