I’m really liking Ian Kim’s illustration work, which combines a gorgeous, hand-drawn style with ideas and compositions that comment on social issues. See below for some examples that caught my eye, together with their captions.

Kim has lived in the US, Korea, Japan, Australia, and Canada and currently resides in the Los Angeles area.

This image was created for a story about a Korean man who left Pyongyang in 1905 with hopes of a better life in America with his wife, sister and mother. The three women toiled laboriously on crop plantations year after year so that he could get an education and become a lawyer — a dream that citizenship ineligibility laws prevented him from realizing.
