Sparkly Indonesian Graphics and Characters
Graphics and 3D designer Tony Ariawan, who lives in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, has some nice work on his website. Some consist of the following sparkly, stylised compositions, but he also has some unusual character designs.

A couple more examples below…

Tornado Potato : A New, Interesting Korean Snack
Check out this new snack found on the streets of Seoul, South Korea! It’s a Tornado Potato which is basically a potato that’s been sliced into a long spiral and deep fried.
What I like about East-Asian countries are that there always seems to be more interesting things to buy and eat as you walk around, and these things are no exception. Guaranteed to turn heads (well, foreign heads anyway).

Japan Photo Moment : Origami Cranes
Coriette Schoenaerts has a Japan-series of photos including this one below, of origami cranes, shaped roughly like lips…
After discovering that kissing got introduced to the Japanese by Dutch tradesmen of the East Indies Companies, the subject for a Japan-series was evident. The graphic shape of the mouth runs through the series and by turning the pages of the magazine, the mouths ‘kiss’.

Japan Picture Moment : Transparent Frog
A transparent frog is seen at a laboratory in Hiroshima University’s Institute for Amphibian Biology in Hiroshima, Japan, in this photograph released by the institute on September 25, 2007.
Japanese scientists have bred frogs whose internal organs can be seen through their skins, giving researchers of diseases such as cancer insight into organ growth and development.

Japanese School Girls Used Underwear For Sale
I heard about Japanese school girls being able to sell their used underwear a few years ago. I couldn’t quite imagine it, yet at the same time, wasn’t surprised that there was a market for them in Japan. Well, here they are, complete with photos of their previous owners.
Danny Choo blogs “I saw a documentary on this subject many years ago where the shop owner would only pay for a used panty if the school girl took it off in front of him…”
