Sushi and Salsa Fusion in Camden
We tried out a new sushi place in Camden yesterday called Hi Sushi Salsa, which was pretty good. Its been awhile since I’ve been to the area and lots of eating and drinking places have sprung up.
Hi Sushi Salsa has 3000 sq ft with outdoor waterfront seating in the heart of Camden Lock. They have signature sunken tatami seatings ( a little bizarre to sit in at first, but at least I didn’t have to eat cross-legged) and an innovative sunken sushi bar, open kitchen and long bar.

Egg Custard Tarts
Pastry girl gives a good post on the experience of growing up and shopping around (San Francisco’s) Chinatown.
Fresh Egg Custard Tarts or Dan Tats, are one of my favourite Chinese bakery items and feature in her post. There are links to recipes where you can try baking your own, or if you don’t do so, just drop into your nearest Chinatown, where there’s likely to be a bakery that sells these. Mmmm!

Joanna Zhou creates Japanese-Style Momiji Dolls
Award-winning manga artist Joanna Zhou has created this collection of six small, brightly coloured friendship Momiji dolls.
On her site, she writes: “I was asked to design a range inspired by japanese street fashion, manga and Harajuku. Each doll comes packaged in a bespoke, illustrated tin. They make ideal gifts for otakus, designers or anyone who appreciates cuteness and fashion!”
Available from October from Firebox.com and the Topshop in Oxford Circus.

Impressive Fruit and Veggie Art
Check out these shots of sculpted fruit and vegetables. I imagine it must have taken a bit of teaching and lots of botched veggies for someone to get their knife skills this good!
I’m not 100% sure these are East-Asian orientated, but its so typical of their ability to “manipulate” food, and these kinds of objects are commonly used to market their catering services. Besides - look - that’s a Suzuki in the background…
