Chinese Picture Moment : Dead-Skin-Eating Fish
We previously posted about fish in Singapore that are used in feet beauty treatments. Here’s another photo of similar fish grazing on a young Chinese woman’s body!
Apparently, beauty-seekers in Southern China are soaking themselves in pools filled with this type of small fish that eat human skin:
“Garra Rufa, a type of small tropical fish, also nicknamed Chinchin Yu, nibble fish or simply doctor fish, are put in hot springs. As they can live and swim freely in at least 43-degree-hot waters, they are naturally used for the treatment of skin diseases in such spas.
“When placed in the spa, these fish can feed themselves on the dead cells of the human body, since they only consume such cells, leaving the healthy skin of the human body to grow. The whole process is reportedly free of pain. It won’t hurt and the bather might feel a pleasant tingling on his or her skin.”
Sounds like they go for more than just the beauty treatment.

This is a lovely way to soft skin and it’s very relaxing. It’s not freakish in any way but a natural and safe beauty treatment. It has been used to treat a number of skin ailments as well.
And btw leeches are a recognised and very effective medical treatment as well.
What is the cost for the fishes that eat dead skin? How can you make money with this concept?
