How to think like Bruce Lee / The Anniversary of his death : 20/7/73
Today is the anniversary of Bruce Lee’s death.
Bruce Lee achieved amazing things in his short life and is an icon of Worldwide acclaim – and probably will be for a very long time. However, he had to overcome massive obstacles to get there, more so than most people will ever face in their life.

Take for instance, his weight-training back injury that confined him to a bed for six months and which prompted doctors to claim that he would never kick again. Or the prejudice in Hollywood that forced him to seek superstardom in Hong Kong (East-Asian actors still seem to face this prejudice even today).
Life Coaches Blog has an interesting article that expands on these aspects of Bruce Lee’s attitude and life and summarises that it takes a never-ending dedication to growth and self-development.
For instance, he practiced incessantly. “What do you think was the price of his eye-popping feats and unbeatable athletism? Exercising two times a week and a bottle of beer in front of the TV after? Bruce Lee trained religiously every single day, there are training records that suggest he practiced kicks…upward to a thousand times a day!”
Not everyone can have the strength of mind to become the next Bruce Lee, but the article throws some light upon how he achieved his goals, which are ideas and inspiration that anyone can take for self-development.
The closing quote from Bruce Lee in the article:
“Ever since I was a child I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. To me, the function of and duty of a quality human is the sincere and honest development of one’s potential.
“I have come to discover through earnest personal experience and dedicated learning that ultimately the greatest help is self-help-doing one’s best, dedicating one’s self wholeheartedly to a given task, which happens to have no end but is an on-going process.”
Here’s to the Little Dragon.
