Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen’s new film “Flash Point”
Martial arts master and Hong Kong action movie veteran Donnie Yen has a new film forthcoming called “Flash Point“. It will be a Wilson Yip (drama direction) and Donnie Yen (action direction) collaboration, who both first worked together on the violent cops and triads film “SPL” two years ago.

“Flash Point” promises to be less dark (”There’s some hope at the end”, and unlike SPL, probably some survivors too) and hopes to bring mixed martial arts to the attention of Asia. Donnie portrays an agent who battles against three brothers of a powerful Vietnamese gang.
From the March 07 issue of Hong Kong’s Talkies magazine who interviewed Donnie Yen:
‘Yen has become a proponent of mixed martial arts, an interdisciplinary form of fighting utilising elements of jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing and wrestling. “This will be the next trend in world martial arts,” he predicts excitedly. “I spotted it a couple of years ago and did the research and training - I shouldn’t be ding this to my body at my age, but I love it.” he laughs. Eyes gleaming, he urges interested parties to check out the Ultimate Fighter Championship (the official US body for mixed martial arts) website at www.ufc.com. “In a year or two it’s going to sweep Asia, like X Games did, and I want to be the first to put it in the cinema.’
