Shaolin martial arts shoes – the next big thing for cool, high impact street wear?

Coolhunting have spotted a possible trend for the next big thing in urban footwear – Shaolin shoes from Chinese brand Feiyue.

Feiyue

Made in Shanghai since 1920, the shoe had become famous during the 30’s for its robustness, flexibility and comfort, essential requirements for Chinese martial arts. However, they’ve now been worn by everyone from politicians to Shaolin masters and so their cultural heritage may prove attractive for a market hungry for something different. With style names like “Shaolin Soul”, “Dragon Dust” and “Monkey Claw” how can you go wrong?!

Where do you buy yours from? And are you in the UK? Also, out of interest, what martial art do you do?

  3. peasoup says:

Hi Sifu. Currently Hungar how about yourself? Taichifinder.co.uk sell them in the UK (though they have gone up in price). I’ve also in the past bought some from http://www.martialartsmart.com they are very cheap there but the postage is extortionate.

Hey peasoup, thanks for the web addresses, I’ll need to check up on mysizes before ordering! I used to do Chin Woo kung fu and a bit of modern wushu, but hope to pick it up again later this year.
