Korean Director Bong Joon-Ho’s “The Host”
Ok, The Host has been around the block a few times already, but I just have to recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. Its a witty, and wicked sci-fi horror comedy, that seems to allow space for its characters to develop, yet moves along fast enough to convey the threat of the monster. In fact, the early scene-stealing display of the monster in action in broad daylight is the polar opposite of most movies that wait for the climax before the reveal, and yet does very little to lower your interest. The effects are pretty good, and the reception its been receiving at places like the Cannes International Film Festival speaks for itself.
Enjoy, if you can catch it at a cinema near you, or at least search it out on DVD, before Hollywood’s remake takes over!
