Japanese Design Barcodes : creating appealing and engaging brand elements

Japanese Design Barcode turns standard barcodes into appealing and engaging brand elements.” I love these designs for the simple idea that they turn a necessary and mostly unattractive feature of packaging into something that’s quirky and playful, potentially more related to the product and connects with its customer.

Design Barcodes

In case you’re doubting the practicality of these designs, the agency apparently prides itself on zero instances of false reading by barcode readers, and all barcodes are put through a battery of tests before being released for production.

The idea isn’t widely used outside Japan at the moment, but expect your design-savvy products to start sporting these elements soon.
