Zhang Yimou’s “Curse of the Golden Flower”

House of Flying Daggers” and “Hero” director Zhang Yimou’s new film “Curse of the Golden Flower” premieres in London next week. Set in the Later Tang Dynasty, China, 10th Century, it looks like typical gorgeous, Zhang-style with lush visuals, landscapes and costumes.

I’ve not seen the film yet, but the trailer depicts the usual silent exchanges between the lead characters, and moments of epic battles between colour-coded warriors. Looks promising, with evidently high production values, and if his previous films are anything to go by, the chance to enjoy pure eye candy for a couple of hours, may be enough to catch it on the big screen.
