Over 370 Ramen recipes : The Official Ramen Homepage!
Mat Fischer has a Ramen website which he’s been running since 97, compiling recipes for ramen noodles. There are over 370 recipes, in categories such as “Dessert” (eurgh, maybe!), and “Salad“ as well as the more usual, “pork” and “seafood” groups.
My personal favourite are the conventional “HotDog/Sausage” recipes, but I honestly didn’t know there were so many ways to consume ramen!

Japanese website designer’s neat, windy, digital toy and stretchy gurner face!
Japanese website designer Masayuki has a great, little toy on his website (see blue screenshot below). Its a bit windy in his world, and you simply pluck the right silhouettes to move from one scene to another.
Check out his “About me” page as well, which has a great little TV featuring a 3D model of his head, which you can also pluck, to pull stretchy, gurner faces! The scripting behind this, as far as I can see, is nothing new, but the ideas he’s created, which pull the techniques together are ingenious! Hats off to you Masa!

Shiny Mao Badges and other Cultural Revolution Goodies
I just stumbled across a site by Kurt Groetsch, who is actually responsible for the Cultural Revolution imagery Flickr page I posted before (see it by clicking here). Its called Mao Ephemera and has more stuff that he’s collected. My personal favourites are the badges - forget your pinpops - these are the real deal - highly collectable, gorgeous works of art. I’ll be trying to pick some up when I next go to East Asia. Click through Kurt’s Badge exhibition while you’re there and find out a bit more information on each badge.

Eric Feng - illustrator of Fevolutionary proportions
Eric Feng has a clean, illustrative style that combines East, West, nature, the mechanical, fantasy and reality. The creatures and contraptions on his site are wonderful creations that I wished I had come up with. I first saw his work a few years ago, but have only just come across his beautifully bound book, Fevolution: The Art of Eric Feng, which I’ve just ordered and received!

Hello Kitty jet by EVA Air
I think I’m over half a year late with this one, but the jet has only just appeared in this month’s Wallpaper magazine (Annual Design Awards 2007) listed for Best Livery.
Hello Kitty is a girl’s institution, so no gushy coo-ing from me, but the branding is nice perpetuating through to the meals, menus, toiletries and other ephemera offered with a flight.

Gorgeous, pimped-up Korean washing machine
Samsung have just brought out a fancy, washing machine designed by Andre Kim, a very well known designer in Korea, apparently.
You’d probably either love it or hate it, but either way, is there much competition out there? Personally, a nice bit of shine and gloss on an appliance that cleans, reflects its function I feel and might raise its appeal. You can’t ignore something that looks like this in your kitchen, so if the style fits. why not?
Now were you looking at the girl or the washing machine?

Evangelion Mechas - constructed from Lego-clones “Diablock”
Cool Evangelion Mechas from DannyChoo.com.
When it comes to robot models, do you want vinyl/plastic kits or these blocky designs? I prefer the plastic ones for the sake of authentic detail, but these do have a retro pixelated look. How about a 3-D pixelated, lo-fi home stop-animation? If you have the time and inclination, you can create the “next” Evangelion anime…

Check out these supercool Buddha molds for temporary Buddha worship (just before you eat it). “Il Buddino” goes in the fridge, the freezer, the dishwasher but not in the oven.
